This interview will explore the troubling nature of new reproductive technologies and how the marketplace is becoming an important determinant in future reproduction. Spar and Devlin dive into medical ethics by examining the tremendous revenue of fertility clinics, and how many “mothers” finance the assembly of well-suited sperm, purchased eggs, and hired wombs and then claim the finished infant. This installment of “Books of Our Time” features an interview with author Debora Spar about her new book “The Baby Business: How Money, Science and Politics Drive the Commerce of Conception”.
