Can someone publish a book about your life story without your permission?
Can someone write a story about you and your life in their book without your permission? What if the names are changed, but then the author discloses that he is one of the characters in the story, making it obvious who the other person in the story is?? If they are not allowed, what can be done about it if the book is already published?
Can your ex publish a book about your past experience during alcoholism, including specific events that happened in your past that were personal, not something you wanted to be disclosed to your young child when they get older and not considered to be public information???
It’s completely legal. We have freedom of the press here in America. As long as they tell the truth they can say whatever they want. However, they can’t slander you.
***Yes, your ex can publish whatever dirty details he wants to about you as long as they are true. If he says that you were an alcoholic and it’s true then it is completely legal. If it wasn’t true then he wouldn’t be allow to because that would be defamation of character, but it seems that you are saying it is true so, sorry, nothing you can do about it. Again, it’s called freedom of the press. It happens all the time.
