Novel Book
any tips on how to make a novel/book captivating?

i’m working on a little project for practice and i want to know
what makes a book/novel captivating.

i want to know what makes a readers eyes so glued to the page their reading and what drags them into the book/novel.

From experience, when I read something, I tend to like things that are tangible and ‘flow’ without too much unnecessary banter. Different genres attract different types of readers. Usually Bestsellers are Action/Adventure Thrillers. If your characters are easy to identify with and ‘likeable’…it really helps. I occasionally read Fantasy books because I love the fact that everything is totally ‘made-up.’ I think some people like this genre because everything has to be so descriptive…it’s fun letting the author take your imagination and running wild with it.

The Adventures of Huck Finn

The Adventures of Huck Finn

$2.84

Huckleberry Finn’s age has been scaled down in this 1993 Disney film in order to accommodate star Elijah Wood’s young years at the time. But that’s not the only concession Mark Twain’s great American novel must make to Disney revisionism. Wood’s Huck, as adapted for the screen by writer-director Stephen Sommers, is all rascal and only nominally a philosopher, which takes a lot of the soul out of …

Josh Groban

Josh Groban

There are worse things in life than making your acting debut on the much ballyhooed season finale of Ally McBeal, though teen operatic baritone Josh Groban doesn’t seem destined to encounter them anytime soon. As the awkward high school student-client who asks the typically romance-jinxed Ally to his senior prom, Groban performed this debut album’s “You’re Still You” (adapted from film-composing l…

Titanic [VHS]

Titanic [VHS]

$3.25

When the theatrical release of James Cameron’s Titanic was delayed from July to December of 1997, media pundits speculated that Cameron’s $200 million disaster epic would cause the director’s downfall, signal the end of the blockbuster era, and sink Paramount Studios as quickly as the ill-fated luxury liner had sunk on that fateful night of April 14, 1912. Some studio executives were confident, ot…

[VHS]Peter Pan(Fully Restored 45th Anniversary Limited Edition) (Walt Disney Masterpiece Collection) [VHS]

$9.57

Peter Pan has a special place in the realm of classic animated Disney films: it instills an element of childlike wonder. The 1953 version of James M. Barrie’s story is colorfully told and keeps on the straight and narrow of the book. Barrie’s wondrous focus on child’s play is the key to its longevity: kids who don’t grow up, shadows that run away from their owners, pirates, a fairy, and the magic…
