How do I publish children’s book?

Question by Dawn: How do I publish children’s book?
I have written a series of children’s book and would like to try to get them published. They are completely written and illustrated already and I would just like some suggestions on where to get started.

Writer’s Market, look for the most recent edition at the library or bookstore.
Sending in a chapter to a publisher puts you on the slush pile. Odds of being noticed – well, let’s say that “Harry Potter” went through quite a few rejections.

There are different types of “children’s” books and it depends on what type of book you’ve written: Young Adult, Middle Grade, picture book, chapter book, first reader, etc.
Here’s a forum thread by a children’s book agent and you might be able to get some information about the market for the type of book you’ve written.
