Where to look for publishers who grants translation rights?
We provide quality translation services in almost every field. Not just translated, but also edited by an editor and checked by a proofreader – to ensure that the vocabulary used is accurate and appropriate. We wanted to purchase the translation rights to translate any languages into English and Malay. We can also print and market the books for publishers. Is there a website, where we can see which publisher wanted to translate what book, encclocypedia, directory, etc
I don’t think so. Usually if a publisher wants to translate a book, they will hire someone to do it. They don’t post these things online to my knowledge.
What you are talking about is freelance work. Try joining freelance sites like ELance and Guru. A lot of people (not big name publishers) will pay to have something translated. Try to make contacts in the publishing world, too. Maybe through conferences or something? I don’t know how you could do that. But ideally what you want is a big enough name for yourself (and enough work experience via freelancing for example) that publishers will contact you.
I’m not sure how else you could research this, but maybe just looking into the business and how it is run will help you figure out how to break into the publishing world. Good luck!
